About CFI Travel
2004 witnessed an exciting new program at the Center for Inquiry, created by the wondrously talented and experienced Toni Van Pelt. A program involving travel around the world with skeptics and secular humanists - exploring the grand diversity within our global community, stimulating our minds with thought-provoking presentations, building lasting friendships and sharing in the future of our movement.
Along with our affiliate organizations, the Council for Secular Humanism (CSH) and the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP), the Center for Inquiry launched the travel program with an exciting cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. With such a successful voyage, our winter solstice cruise will become an annual event, visiting new and fascinating destinations each year. We will also be offering other travel experiences throughout the year - exploring the world by sea, land and air. With so many locales of interest to skeptics and secular humanists, we expect to be traveling for a long time to come.
The purpose of the travel program is to further the mission of the Center for Inquiry by creating an opportunity where like-minded individuals can meet, mingle and enjoy new experiences. Our premiere voyage demonstrated that travel is of great interest to our members and plays an important role in living an exuberant life!
For our cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, participants joined for seven days, visited fascinating areas, took part in lively discussion and activity, and enjoyed presentations by an exclusive line-up of speakers.

The director of the Travel Program is Toni Van Pelt.
Toni owned and operated International Travel Associates Inc., of St. Petersburg, Florida, for 27 years. She sold her business in 2003 to become the executive director of the Center for Inquiry Florida. With the development of the travel program she has successfully married her past career in travel with her commitment to skepticism and secular humanism.
