members of the CFI Cruise while we are on shore in
Victoria, British Columbia.

Details to follow later

In 1953, Dr. Marion Sherman helped found The Victoria Secular Humanist Association. During this period, Dr. Brock Chisholm (afterwards a Humanist of the Year), the first director of the World Health Organization and a founder of the International Humanist and Ethical Union, became an associate when he retired to Victoria. Subsequently, the Victoria and Montreal groups began The Humanist Association of Canada in order to help Dr. Henry Morgentaler legalize abortion. The Humanist in Canada magazine (now named Humanist Perspective) was begun by Victoria's Lloyd Brereton and is now edited by The VSHA's Dr. Gary Bauslaugh. The current Humanist of the Year is Victoria's Evelyn Martens.
